Dishwasher leaking?

Talk to a technician, 24/7

  • Active leaks go to the front of the line
  • $49 diagnostic, written quote first
  • 90-day parts & labor warranty

Need dishwasher repair in Visalia? Call (559) 597-1018 and tell us the brand and what the dishwasher is doing, plus any code on the display. A technician comes out, often the same day, checks the filter, drain path and pumps, and quotes the fix in writing. Many dishwasher calls end with a clogged filter or drain line rather than a new part, and we’ll tell you when that’s the case. Every repair carries a 90-day parts and labor warranty.

Cheap causes first

Visalia Dishwasher Repair, From Simple Clogs to Failed Pumps

A dishwasher rarely quits all at once. It leaves a little water behind, then a little more. Glasses come out cloudy. A puddle shows up under the door after a long cycle.

Most of these problems trace back to the drain path: the filter, the drain hose, the air gap on the sink or the drain pump. A smaller share come from the pumps, heater or controls.

We check the cheap causes first and tell you plainly if cleaning, not a new part, fixes it.

What Our Dishwasher Repair Covers

  • Filters, sumps and drain-path clogs, including the drain hose and the sink air gap
  • Drain pumps and circulation (wash) pumps and motors
  • Water inlet valves and float switches
  • Door latches, door switches, door springs and hinge cables
  • Door gaskets and tub leaks
  • Spray arms, wash tubes and diverter motors
  • Heating elements and temperature sensors
  • Detergent dispensers that won’t open
  • Control boards and touchpads
  • Leak-detection systems such as Bosch AquaStop
Local know-how

What Visalia Water and Plumbing Mean for Your Dishwasher

City water is soft, so spots usually aren’t scale

Cal Water’s 2024 report puts the Visalia system’s average hardness at 73 ppm, which is soft; some individual wells reached 160 ppm. If your glasses come out cloudy on city water, the cause is more often too much detergent, an empty rinse-aid dispenser, or a dirty filter than mineral scale.

Private wells outside town are harder

Homes on wells can see real scale on the heater, spray arms and inlet valve screen. Those dishwashers benefit from rinse aid, the right detergent dose and an occasional descaling cycle.

California requires an air gap

The California Plumbing Code requires a listed dishwasher air gap fitting on the drain side; a high loop under the sink doesn’t satisfy it. That small chrome cap on the back of your sink is the air gap. When it clogs, water spits onto the counter or backs up into the dishwasher.

Garbage disposal connections

Many Visalia kitchens drain the dishwasher through the disposal. A new disposal with the knockout plug still in place, or a jammed disposal, stops the dishwasher from draining.

Symptoms & fixes

Dishwasher Problems We Fix Across Visalia

Find the symptom that matches yours. Each one lists what we usually find, what you can safely check, and what the repair involves.

Standing Water in the Bottom

A little water around the filter after a cycle is normal on many models. An inch or more is not.

What we usually find
A clogged filter or sump, a kinked or clogged drain hose, a clogged air gap, a disposal that’s jammed or still has its knockout plug, or a failed drain pump.
Check this first
Remove and rinse the filter (most twist out from the tub floor). Run the garbage disposal for a few seconds. Pull off the air gap cap on the sink and clear any gunk.
The repair
We clear the drain path or replace the drain pump. A pump swap usually finishes in one visit.

Dishes Coming Out Dirty, Gritty or Spotted

What we usually find
A clogged filter, spray arms with plugged holes, a failed circulation pump or motor, a water inlet valve that doesn’t let in enough water, or a heater that never warms the water.
Check this first
Clean the filter, spin each spray arm by hand and clear its holes with a toothpick, run the kitchen tap until it’s hot before starting the cycle, and refill the rinse-aid dispenser.
The repair
Inlet valves, spray arms and heaters are common fixes. A failed wash motor costs more, and we’ll price it against a new dishwasher.

Dishwasher Leaking Under the Door or Onto the Floor

Under the door
A worn door gasket, a door that isn’t closing square, oversudsing from hand-dish soap, or a dishwasher that isn’t level.
Under the unit
A leaking pump seal, a loose drain or supply connection, a cracked inlet valve, or a leaking tub.
Check this first
Turn off the water supply valve under the sink if the leak is active. Make sure you’re using dishwasher detergent, never dish soap.
The repair
Gaskets, valves and pump seals are usually same-visit fixes. Many Bosch models shut down on their own and show E15 when water reaches the base; we find and fix the leak before clearing it.

Dishwasher Won’t Start

What we usually find
A door latch or door switch that doesn’t register the door as closed, a control lock turned on, a blown thermal fuse, a failed control board, or no power at the outlet or switch.
Check this first
Confirm the door latches with a click, look for a lock icon on the panel, and check the wall switch (some dishwashers share a switch with the disposal) and the breaker.
The repair
Latches and switches are inexpensive. We test the board before we recommend replacing it.

Dishes Not Drying

What we usually find
An empty rinse-aid dispenser, a failed heating element on models that use one, or a vent or fan fault on models that dry by condensation.
Check this first
Fill the rinse-aid dispenser and run a heated-dry option if your model has one. Many newer dishwashers, especially Bosch, dry by condensation and leave plastic items damp; that’s normal.
The repair
Heating elements and vent fans are common parts.

Water Spitting From the Air Gap on the Sink

What we usually find
A clogged air gap, a clogged hose between the air gap and the disposal or drain, or a disposal inlet that’s blocked.
Check this first
Pull off the air gap cap and clear the inside with a bottle brush, then run the disposal.
The repair
We clear or replace the air gap and the hose. If the blockage sits in the house drain, we’ll tell you.

Bad Smell or Loud Noise

Smell
Food trapped in the filter or sump, or standing water from a slow drain.
Grinding or buzzing
Glass, a bone or a pit in the pump, or a failing pump or motor bearing.
The repair
We clear the debris and replace the pump or motor if it’s damaged.
Stop the damage

Dishwasher Leaking or Full of Water? What to Do Before We Arrive

  1. Stop an active leak. Turn off the water supply valve under the sink, usually a small valve on the hot line.
  2. Cut the power. Switch off the dishwasher’s breaker, or unplug it under the sink if it plugs in.
  3. Dry the floor and cabinet. Leave the cabinet door open so the base can dry; standing water under a dishwasher damages flooring and cabinets fast.
  4. Bail standing water with a cup and towels if you want the dishes out. Don’t run another cycle to “push it through”; that can overflow.
  5. Try the free checks: rinse the filter, run the disposal, and clear the air gap cap on the sink.
  6. Never use hand-dish soap in the dishwasher, even once. It foams out under the door.
  7. Write down any error code and the model number, and tell us both when you call.
Error codes

Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes We See in Visalia Kitchens

Bosch dishwashers display E-codes, and these three are the ones we see most often. Codes vary by model, so confirm yours in the manual.

CodeWhat Bosch says it meansTry this firstWhen to call us
E15Water detected in the base; the leak-protection system has shut the dishwasher downTurn off the water supply to the dishwasherAlways: something is leaking inside, and the cause needs finding before reset
E24Not draining properly, often a blocked drain filterClean the filter; check the drain hose for kinks; on a new disposal, confirm the knockout plug is outStill E24 after that: drain pump or hose
E09Heating fault (Bosch’s UK support names a defective heating element)Power off at the breaker for 30 seconds, then restartReturns: heater, wiring or board

Other brands: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE and Samsung dishwashers use flashing lights or letter-number codes that differ by model. Call (559) 597-1018 with the code and your model number and we’ll tell you what it points to before we come out.

  • GE

  • Electrolux
  • Samsung
  • LG
  • Kenmore
  • Thermador
  • Amana
  • Haier

From the bench:

  • Bosch dishwashers sit on a base pan with a float sensor. A small drip from a pump seal or door can trip E15 long before you see water on the floor.
  • Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Maytag share many dishwasher parts, so drain pumps and inlet valves for them are easy to source.
  • Dishwashers with a manual-clean filter need that filter cleaned regularly; a clogged one is a common cause of “not cleaning” complaints. Your manual gives the interval, usually monthly to every few months.

What Changes the Price

  • The failed part. A gasket or valve costs a fraction of a wash motor or board.
  • Brand. Premium and European brands often price parts higher.
  • Access. A panel-ready dishwasher or one boxed in by tile or flooring takes longer to pull out.
  • Parts. Common parts ride on the truck; special orders add a second visit, with the arrival date in writing.

These prices are estimates. Call for your exact price.

Every dishwasher is different. Call us, tell us the brand and what it’s doing, and we’ll give you the exact cost. Our diagnostic visit is $49, and you get the full price in writing before we start.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Dishwasher?

Repair it if the fix costs less than about half the price of a comparable new dishwasher. Fixr puts the typical mid-range dishwasher’s life at 8 to 10 years, with well-kept premium models lasting longer. Filters, hoses, latches, valves, gaskets and drain pumps are almost always worth fixing.

The harder calls are a failed wash motor or control board on a budget dishwasher past 8 years, or a cracked tub. We’ll give you the number and an honest opinion.

FAQ

Dishwasher Repair FAQs for Visalia Homeowners

We’re open 24/7 and can usually reach you the same day. Active leaks go to the front of the line. If we need to order a part, you get its arrival date in writing.

Usually a clogged filter, a kinked or clogged drain hose, a blocked air gap, a jammed garbage disposal, or a failed drain pump. Clean the filter, run the disposal and clear the air gap cap first. If water still sits there, the pump or hose needs service.

On soft city water, cloudy glasses usually come from too much detergent, no rinse aid, or a dirty filter, not mineral scale. Cal Water’s Visalia system averages 73 ppm hardness. Homes on private wells can have harder water and real scale.

Yes. The California Plumbing Code requires a listed dishwasher air gap fitting on the drain side, and a high loop under the sink doesn’t meet it. It’s the small cap on the back of your sink, and it needs clearing now and then.

Usually yes for pumps, valves, latches, gaskets and hoses. For a wash motor or control board, compare the quote with half the price of a similar new dishwasher. We’ll give you both numbers.

Bosch says E15 means water has reached the base of the dishwasher and the leak-protection system has activated. Turn off the water supply and call us; something is leaking inside, and we find the source before we reset it.

Yes: Tulare, Exeter, Farmersville, Goshen, Ivanhoe and Yettem. See our service areas.
