Washer leaking right now?

Talk to a technician, 24/7

  • Active leaks go to the front of the line
  • $49 diagnostic, written quote first
  • 90-day parts & labor warranty

Need washer repair in Visalia? Call (559) 597-1018 and tell us the brand, whether it loads from the top or the front, and any error code on the display. A technician comes out, often the same day, finds the cause, and quotes the fix in writing. Our trucks carry the pumps, lid switches, door locks and couplers that fail most, so most washers run again on the first visit. Every repair carries a 90-day parts and labor warranty.

Back to clean laundry

Visalia Washer Repair Without the Laundromat Detour

A broken washer usually stops mid-cycle with a drum full of water and wet clothes, or it starts leaking onto the laundry room floor.

Either way, the laundry piles up fast, especially in a big household. Most washer failures come down to a handful of parts, and most of those parts cost far less than a new machine.

On the phone, we ask for the brand, the type and the error code. That code often tells us the likely part before we leave, so we arrive with it.

What Our Washing Machine Repair Covers

  • Drain pumps, pump filters and drain hose clogs
  • Lid switches, lid locks and front-load door locks
  • Water inlet valves, inlet screens and fill problems
  • Drive belts, motor couplers, clutches and shift actuators
  • Shock absorbers, suspension rods and springs
  • Front-load door boot gaskets, mold and odor problems
  • Pressure switches and water level sensors
  • Motors, Hall sensors (rotor position sensors) and inverter or control boards
  • Agitators and agitator dogs on top-loaders
Local know-how

What Visalia Water and Homes Do to Washers

Washers here fail for some local reasons that coastal guides miss.

Soft city water means less detergent

Cal Water’s 2024 report puts the Visalia system’s average hardness at 73 ppm, which is soft. LG’s guidance says soft water needs less detergent, often about half the label amount. Too much soap in a front-loader causes suds lock, slow spins, soaking-wet loads and drain errors that look like a broken pump.

Private wells outside town

Homes on private wells outside city limits can see sediment and scale. That grit clogs the inlet screens behind the hoses and causes slow fills and fill errors.

Rubber supply hoses in older homes

Half of Visalia’s homes were built before 1990, and plenty still run the original rubber fill hoses. Whirlpool recommends replacing washer inlet hoses every 5 years. A burst hose floods a laundry room in minutes.

Hot laundry rooms and garages

Plenty of Visalia washers sit in a garage or a laundry room off it. Summer heat dries out rubber parts faster, and a closed front-loader in a warm room grows mildew in the door gasket.

Power flickers

Southern California Edison serves Visalia. Newer LG and Samsung washers run on inverter boards, and we see board faults after summer outages.

Symptoms & fixes

Washer Problems We Fix Across Visalia

Find the symptom that matches yours. Each one lists what we usually find, what you can safely check, and what the repair involves.

Washer Won’t Drain

What we usually find
A sock, coin or hair tie jammed in the drain pump or pump filter, a kinked or clogged drain hose, or a failed drain pump. On front-loaders, too much detergent can also leave the drum full of suds the pump can’t clear.
Check this first
Most front-loaders have a small access door at the bottom front with a pump filter behind it. Put down towels and a shallow pan before you open it; the drum’s water comes out there. On top-loaders, check that the drain hose isn’t kinked behind the machine.
The repair
We clear the pump and hose, or replace the pump. A pump swap usually takes under an hour.

Washer Won’t Spin, or Clothes Come Out Soaking Wet

What we usually find
A load the machine judged unbalanced, a drain problem (washers won’t spin with water in the tub), a broken lid switch or door lock, a worn belt or motor coupler, or on some top-loaders a failed shift actuator.
Check this first
Redistribute the load, especially a single heavy item like a comforter or bath mat, and run a drain-and-spin cycle. Check that the drum empties.
The repair
Lid switches, couplers and belts are inexpensive same-visit fixes. Shift actuators and motors cost more, and we price them in writing first.

Washer Leaking Water

Where the water appears tells us most of the story.

Puddle at the back
A worn rubber fill hose, a loose hose washer, or a leaking water inlet valve.
Puddle at the front of a front-loader
A torn door boot gasket, often from a coin or underwire, or suds overflowing from too much detergent.
Puddle underneath
A leaking drain pump, a cracked hose inside the cabinet, or a failed tub seal.
Check this first
Turn off both supply valves behind the washer if the leak is active, then check the fill hoses for bulges, cracks and loose fittings.
The repair
We replace hoses, gaskets, pumps or valves. If your hoses are original rubber ones, we’ll recommend braided replacements while we’re there.

Washer Shaking, Walking or Banging

What we usually find
A washer that isn’t level, worn shock absorbers or suspension rods, broken suspension springs, or worn tub bearings.
Check this first
Set a level on top and adjust the feet, and make sure all four feet touch the floor. Check that shipping bolts were removed if the washer is new.
The repair
Shocks and suspension rods come as sets and usually finish in one visit. Bearing noise, a loud roar during spin, means a bigger job; we’ll tell you whether it’s worth doing on your washer’s age.

Washer Won’t Start or the Door Won’t Lock

What we usually find
A failed lid switch or door lock, a tripped GFCI outlet, a control board fault, or a machine still in a child-lock or delay-start setting.
Check this first
Confirm the outlet works, press the GFCI reset if your laundry outlet has one, and check for a lock icon on the display.
The repair
Door locks and lid switches are common, inexpensive parts. We test the board before we recommend replacing it.

Washer Won’t Fill or Fills Slowly

What we usually find
A supply valve not fully open, clogged inlet screens (common on well water), a kinked hose, or a failed water inlet valve.
Check this first
Open both supply valves fully and look for kinks in the hoses.
The repair
We clean the screens or replace the inlet valve.

Front-Load Washer Smells Musty

What we usually find
Mildew in the door gasket folds, a clogged pump filter holding stagnant water, or detergent residue from overdosing.
Check this first
Wipe the gasket folds, leave the door and detergent drawer open between loads, and run the washer’s clean cycle.
The repair
If mold has eaten into the gasket or the smell returns within days, we replace the gasket and clear the drain path.

Washer Stops Mid-Cycle

What we usually find
A drain or fill error the machine is protecting itself from, an overheating motor, a door-lock fault, or a control board problem. The error code on the display usually tells us which; see the error code table below.
Stop the damage

Washer Leaking or Full of Water? What to Do Before We Arrive

  1. Stop an active leak. Turn off both water supply valves behind the washer. If water is near the outlet, switch off the washer’s breaker before you step in it.
  2. Unplug the washer. Then mop up so nobody slips.
  3. Getting the clothes out of a front-loader: most models have a small drain hose or pump filter behind the bottom access panel. Lay towels down, set a shallow pan in place, and drain slowly. Many front-load doors stay locked until the water level drops; don’t force the handle.
  4. Top-loader full of water: you can bail it out with a bucket, or leave it for us.
  5. Check the hoses. Bulges, cracks or rust at the fittings mean replace them now, whatever else is wrong.
  6. Write down the error code and the model number, and tell us both when you call.
Error codes

Common Washer Error Codes We See in Visalia

An error code is the washer telling you which system tripped, not always which part failed. Call us with the code and we can usually tell you whether it’s a quick check or a service call. Codes vary by model, so confirm yours in the owner’s manual.

Sud or SUd on the display means too much foam, almost always from too much detergent or non-HE detergent. With Visalia’s soft city water, start at about half the label amount. Got a code that isn’t listed? Call (559) 597-1018 with the model number.

Brands We Service

  • LG
  • Samsung
  • Whirlpool
  • Maytag
  • Amana
  • Kenmore
  • GE
  • Frigidaire
  • Electrolux
  • Bosch
  • Haier
  • KitchenAid

From the bench:

  • LG and Samsung front-loaders use direct-drive motors controlled by an inverter board. A motor error doesn’t always mean a dead motor; the Hall sensor or the board can trigger the same code, so we test before we replace.
  • Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana share many parts, so the truck often already carries what your machine needs.
  • Kenmore washers came from other manufacturers. The model number tells us which, and which parts fit.
  • Older direct-drive top-loaders are some of the simplest machines to keep running. A worn motor coupler is a common, inexpensive fix on them.

Pricing

How Much Does Washer Repair Cost in Visalia?

Most washing machine repairs cost $150 to $400 nationally, with an average around $300; simple fixes like a coupler or lid switch start near $85 (Fixr cost data, labor included). These are estimated prices only. For the exact cost of your repair, give us a call at (559) 597-1018.

What Changes the Price

  • The failed part. A coupler costs a fraction of a motor or board.
  • Washer type. Front-loaders and stacked units take longer to open up than most top-loaders.
  • Access. A stacked unit in a tight closet adds labor.
  • Parts. Common parts ride on the truck; special orders add a second visit, with the arrival date in writing.

These prices are estimates. Call for your exact price.

Every washer is different. Call us, tell us the brand, the type and the error code, and we’ll give you the exact cost. Our diagnostic visit is $49, and you get the full price in writing before we start.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Washer?

Repair it if the fix costs less than about half the price of a comparable new washer. Fixr puts typical lifespans at about 11 years for front-loaders and 14 for top-loaders. Pumps, switches, locks, couplers, belts and shocks are almost always worth fixing.

The hard calls are worn tub bearings on a front-loader past 8 to 10 years, or a failed motor or board on an older budget model. We’ll give you the number and an honest opinion.

California’s Right to Repair Act requires manufacturers to keep parts and repair documentation available for at least 7 years after a model’s last manufacture date for products that wholesale for $100 or more, so recent washers rarely become unrepairable for lack of parts.

FAQ

Washer Repair FAQs for Visalia Homeowners

We’re open 24/7 and can usually reach you the same day. Active leaks go to the front of the line. If we need to order a part, you get its arrival date in writing.

Yes. The diagnostic visit is $49, and you get a written quote before any repair starts. You never pay for a repair you didn’t approve.

The most common causes are a blocked pump filter, a kinked drain hose, too many suds from overdosing detergent, or a failed drain pump. Clean the filter and check the hose first; if it still won’t drain, the pump likely needs replacing.

Usually yes for pumps, lid switches, door locks, couplers, belts and shocks. For bearings, a motor or a control board, compare the quote with half the price of a similar new washer. We’ll give you both numbers.

Mildew grows in the door gasket folds and in standing water behind the pump filter, and too much detergent feeds it. Wipe the gasket, leave the door open between loads, clean the pump filter, and run the clean cycle monthly. If the gasket is moldy inside its folds, replacing it fixes the smell.

Less than the label says. Visalia’s city water averages 73 ppm hardness, which is soft, and LG’s guidance for soft water is to start at about half the recommended amount. Always use HE detergent in an HE washer.

Whirlpool recommends every 5 years. Braided hoses resist bursting better than plain rubber ones, but they still wear out.
